After a couple of months of development, research, and testing, I [Nicolas Kheirallah] have released the first public beta of Hanterill:
Hanterill is a free, local diagnostic tool for Volvo and Polestar cars, among others. It connects straight to the car via OBD-II with a regular passive OBD-II → RJ45 ENET cable. No subscription, no account, no cloud service.
Some of what works on a Polestar 2 (CMA):
- Battery State of Health, read straight from the BECM
- SoC, voltage, current, and battery temperatures
- All 108 cell group voltages
- Live telemetry and graphs
- Full ECU scan over DoIP
- DTC reading, including status and freeze-frame data
- 12V and sleep diagnostics
- Export to CSV and JSON
On my own Polestar 2, Hanterill finds up to 43 ECUs, and a full scan takes under 5 seconds.
The beta is read-only on purpose. I’m still building fault code clearing and service functions, but they stay switched off until they’ve been tested more.
I need testers
Support still varies between models and platforms, and I want to build a proper compatibility database for CMA, SPA, SEA, and SPA2.
I also want to find bugs, stability issues, and anything I don’t run into with my own car. The more different cars, model years, and configurations people test, the better Hanterill can become. Even a failed scan is valuable, because it helps me map the differences between cars and platforms.
Windows, macOS are available.
This is 100% a hobby project and for private use only, so don’t expect commercial support or immediate fixes.
Hanterill is an independent project, not affiliated with or endorsed by Volvo Cars, Polestar, Zeekr, or Lynk & Co.
If you test on a real car, let me know what works, what doesn’t, and any bugs you run into. The more people test, the better it gets. !
